Hi! I'm Anne and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Counselor Supervisor in Georgia and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York. I opened my private practice in Atlanta in 2017. When I started, I had two clients for a few months and spent a lot of time panicking and a lot of late nights trying to figure out the business side of running a practice. I made a lot of mistakes on the way and wasted a lot of money trying to figure out how to get my practice going, before I figured out how to create a practice I love. Now I am passionate about helping therapists avoid my mistakes and create businesses they love. I'm a mom of two so I am always looking for ways to make my work more efficient.
Why I created the Efficient Clinician Club:
When I started out as a new private practice therapist, I really struggled to create systems that worked. I kept thinking that if I didn't personally deal with everyone, my clients would leave.
So I hired a virtual assistant trained to work with therapy clients.
But then...
I decided to raise my rates, in part to help pay for my virtual assistant, and because it was definitely time to give myself a raise.
I also decided to make small schedule changes here and there.
MY SYSTEMS BROKE!
All my free time went away and I spent forever training and retraining my admin every time I made a change.
Going back to doing it all myself seemed like the only way out.
But I didn't want to give up on my free time.
So I tried…
- Scheduling standing meetings with my VA to go over changes (but our schedules never aligned and it ended up eating up a lot of our time)
- Looking for someone to hire "in house" (but it was too expensive and not sustainable)
- Answering all emails and taking forwarded calls (which worked sometimes, but inevitably, I'd end up out of time in my week to take care of everything and feeling exhausted when I was with clients)
I told myself:
There must be an easier way to do this and make this work, even without being the point of contact for every potential client and client issue.
And that's when it hit me!
